Sports coaching traineeship available

FREE programme available from February.

Barclays Premier League charity the Foundation of Light are expanding their range of programmes for young people with the launch of a ground-breaking new traineeship programme.

The six month workforce development programme, ran in partnership with Newcastle College will give youngsters aged 16-24 the opportunity to receive nationally recognised qualifications as well as important experience of working in one of the country’s premier sporting environment.

Youngsters on the programme will undertake Level 1 Coaching Football and Level 2 Supporting the Delivery of PE and Sport in Schools qualifications at Newcastle College.

College studies will be fortified by mentoring and on-the-job training from the Foundation of Light, based at the Stadium of Light.

Participants are also guaranteed a job interview at the end of the course for coaching positions with the Foundation of Light.

Places are available for the FREE programme which starts in February 2014 to youngsters aged 16-24 years who will receive expenses and kit/uniform.

The Foundation of Light is the registered charity of Sunderland AFC which works with more than 42,000 people every year.

The organisation uses the power of football to inspire, involve and educate children, families and adults across the North East.

Structurally and financially independent of the football club the organisation relies on fundraising for 90% of project costs.
