Mini Cooper Sunderland support charity cycle ride.
A leading north east car dealership is heading to Italy to support of the region’s families and young people.
MINI Cooper Sunderland, is providing a support vehicle for a fundraising cycle ride across Italy in aid of SAFC’s official charity, the Foundation of Light.
The dealership, based in Boldon Business Park, West Boldon, is providing a MINI COUNTRYMAN ALL4 which will accompany a team of 40 dedicated fundraisers on their epic four day ride in June.
The fundraising event will cover more than 240 miles from Cecina to Ravenna between Italy’s Mediterranean and Adriatic coasts.
MINI Brand Manager Craig Saunders said: “We’re very proud to be able to support this exciting challenge and a very worthwhile charity in the Foundation of Light.”
“The MINI COUNTRYMAN ALL4 that we’re providing will be ideal for the mountainous course that the riders will be taking and we wish them all the best for the journey.”
Between Wednesday June 4 and Saturday June 7, participants will cycle up to 75 miles per day across some of Italy’s most beautiful landscape, including the Tuscan Hills, the Apennine Mountains and the mountain principality of San Marino.
All proceeds from the event, which is open to ages 18 and above, will be used to help fund the charity’s wide range of sport and education-based programmes, which benefit more than 42,000 young people and families across the north east every year.
Philip King, head of commercial at the Foundation of Light, said: “When running an event such as this we need a support team to ensure that the riders have got what they need, when they need it. Thanks to MINI Cooper Sunderland we have a vehicle that the support team can use specifically for this purpose which suites the challenge perfectly.”
MINI Cooper Sunderland previously supported the Foundation of Light by sponsoring their ‘Grand in your Hand’ lottery which takes place at every Sunderland AFC home league fixture.
The Italian Cycle Challenge is sponsored by Grafton Group Plc with logistics sponsored by OSE European.
