Coaching team returning to Alicante.

The Foundation of Light’s coaching team will be returning to Alicante next week to deliver a summer camp in partnership with Spanish organisation INK Formacion.

The Inglaterra en Casa course, held at the Camilo Cano training complex in La Nucia, will combine high quality football coaching with lessons in English for over 300 youngsters aged eight to 17 years

The football coaching element is aimed at improving the young players through tactical and technical classes, combined with constant training, learning and small sided games.

Foundation of Light’s Football Development staff, delivering the football coaching element of the programme, operate a player pathway in partnership with Sunderland AFC’s Academy of Light which can see gifted and talented players referred into the academy system.

Phil King, Foundation of Light’s Head of Commercial, said: “This will be the fourth time we have worked in partnership with INK Formacion to deliver this camp and every year it has gone from strength to strength.

“Coaching in Spain has not only helped youngsters at the camp improve their footballing and English language skills but has also helped our coaches develop their communication skills.”

Pedro Barbera, of INK Formacion, added: “Working so closely with Sunderland AFC’s Foundation of Light has helped us develop an excellent summer camp which is now one of the biggest in the country. Our staff working together with the Foundation coaches is a winning combination in education and youth sport.”

INK Formacion is based at the Lady Elizabeth School situated on the Costa Blanca, between beautiful mountains and the stunning Mediterranean coast and specialises in courses teaching Spanish as a foreign language through a practical approach (IT lessons, drama, art, swimming and sports) to improve spoken language skills and introduce students to Spain’s vibrant culture.

Revenue generated from the Foundation of Light’s oversees coaching is reinvested directly in North East grassroots sport.
