Free course for adults.

The Foundation of Light are calling all adults who are looking for a career in Sport and Leisure to sign up to a FREE BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport.

The 32 week course, which is running at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light, is specifically designed for people aged 19 and over who are interested in pursuing a career in Sport and Leisure.

Participants must attend classes three days per week (less than 16 hours) and complete thirteen assessment-based units, tackling subjects including training for personal fitness and designing exercise programmes.

Participants will also undergo a short work placement to gain practical experience and enhance employability, with all expenses provided.

The course consists of 13 units which vary from the science side of sport to sports development and coaching.  As part of the Diploma learners participate in a series of fitness tests, individual and team sports every week.

Learners also have the chance to video record their performances and evaluate their skills, techniques and tactics to help improve their performance. This gives them performance analysis experience, a very important part of sport.

Paul Leach, Lifelong Learning Officer at the Foundation of Light said; “The BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Sport, is ideal for people wanting to get into the Sport and Leisure industry.  The course has become very popular especially with our Level 1 participants, as they are keen to progress further”

For further information or to sign up to the course please contact paul.leach@safc.com or call 0191 551 5319 no later than 12 September 2014.

The programme is funded by Sunderland City Council
