PDC entertains at annual event.

Paolo Di Canio lent his support to Sunderland AFC’s charity, Foundation of Light, yesterday when he attended the annual ‘Tip Off Lunch’ event at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats’ head coach entertained more than 120 Foundation of Light corporate members at the special event hosted by Sky Sports presenter David Jones, sharing anecdotes about his career, along with his vision for Sunderland and his hopes for the future.

Sky News presenter Philippa Tomson, who has recently been announced as a Foundation of Light Ambassador, was also present at the event.

Foundation of Light Head of Commercial, Phil King, said: “This year’s Tip Off Lunch was one of the best we’ve ever had. Not only did we enjoy a record attendance from guests but Paolo proved to be a hugely entertaining speaker, talking about everything from football to cooking!

“We’re incredibly grateful to Paolo for giving up his time to attend, as well as David Jones who was a fantastic host. It goes without saying that we are also very grateful to our guests, whose continued support really helps us make a difference in the local  community.”

Corporate Membership, which costs £250 plus VAT per season, also grants members invites to the Top Scorer annual celebration event, attended by the SAFC first team.

The Foundation of Light is the registered charity of Sunderland AFC which works with more than 42,000 people every year.

The organisation uses the power of football to inspire, involve and educate young people and their families and adults across the North East through programmes that can improve their lives.

Structurally and financially independent of the football club the organisation relies on fundraising for 90% of project costs.
