Free sessions to increase awareness of issues relating to health.
The Foundation of Light is aiming to improve the health of men in Sunderland, with men aged 16 years and above being given the opportunity to take part in the free sessions to increase awareness of issues relating to health, including nutrition, exercise, alcohol and smoking.
The sessions utilise a combination of classroom based learning with physical exercise at the Stadium of Light. Funded by the Premier League Community Fund, the special programme runs every Thursday evening 6-8pm until 4th July.
Programme coordinator Steve Colquhoun commented: “This programme is a great opportunity for men to learn about the small differences they can make in their lives which will have a larger cumulative effect on their health and happiness.”
“It’s ideal for those who’d like to make a positive change in their life but aren’t quite sure where to start. With the backing of the Premier League we are able to offer this programme free of charge so I’d encourage anybody interested to book on for a session and see what it’s all about.”

The Foundation of Light (formerly known as SAFC Foundation) is the registered charity of Sunderland AFC which works with more than 42,000 people every year. The organisation uses the power of football to inspire, involve and educate children, families and adults across the North East through programmes that can improve their lives. Structurally and financially independent of the football club the organisation relies on fundraising for 90% of project costs.
