Runners get opportunity to get money-can't-buy prize.

The Foundation of Light are looking for a team of eleven runners to take part in events across Sunderland, offering money can’t buy prizes along the way.

The team of runners will receive a pair of tickets to an upcoming Sunderland AFC home game as well as an opportunity to take part in a pitch side photo with members of the 1973 FA Cup winning team as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations.

The Foundation  have teamed up with the Marathon of the North to find the team of runners who would like to take part in either the Marathon of the North, Half Marathon of the North or Sunderland City 10K, pledging to raise £100 for the Foundation of Light.

As well as the tickets and the pitch side photo the runners will also receive entry into one of the event distances and a special commemorative running shirt.

Starting and finishing at the Stadium of Light all three runs are part of a festival of running taking place on Sunday 28 April and will take in some of Sunderland’s best-known landmarks.

Event organiser Allison Curbishley commented: “This is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate a landmark in Sunderland’s sporting history and we’re delighted to be able to team up with the Foundation of Light to offer this exclusive package.

“The Marathon of the North, Sunderland Half Marathon and Sunderland City 10K all hope to build on Sunderland’s fantastic sporting heritage and hopefully will help inspire youngsters who will go on to achieve sporting greatness like the ’73 FA Cup team.”

Foundation of Light event co-ordinator Katrina Quinn added: “We’d like to thank the event organisers for their continued support over the past three years. The ’73 exclusive package is great value for money and a great way for Sunderland supporters to get involved with the runs whilst supporting the local community.”

To secure a place you need to be quick off the start line, the places for 11 runners will be allocated on a strict first come, first served basis by contacting 0191 5515153.

Should you not be one of the lucky 11 but would still like to take part and raise funds for the Foundation of Light then places are still available across all the events (marathon, half marathon, 10k and team relay)
