Seeing Is Believing Tour

Our Seeing Is Believing tours give supporters of the Foundation opportunity to see firsthand the Foundation’s range of programmes and activities and the impact that donations make our communities. Tours cover programmes such as Disability in Sport, Family Learning, teenager engagement projects and Little Dribblers sessions (Early Years Foundation Stages learning and football). Foundation of Light Corporate members and Sunderland AFC supporters are invited to join the annual Fixtures Breakfast event to welcome the announcement of the new season's Barclays Premier League fixtures. Those present will be amongst the first in the country to receive the new season's fixtures as soon as they are released with opinions on the upcoming season given from experts which have previously included SAFC players and directors. Places are available from just £10 for Corporate Members and £20 for SAFC supporters, which includes breakfast at the Academy of Light and tours of the breathtaking facility.

Challenge Series: The Lambton Runs
Date: 23rd June
The annual Lambton runs are rare opportunity to run in the beautiful Lambton Park Estate situated between Durham and Newcastle upon Tyne where the BBC drama ‘The Paradise’ is filmed. The unique setting makes this challenge a real draw for competitive and non-competitive runners alike looking to try something different, and the 3K run offers a chance for younger members of the family to get involved too. Now in its third year, the Lambton Runs will be raising money for both the Foundation of Light as well as Willow Burn Hospice. The entry fee for 10k UKA members is £10 and £12 for unattached runners and the 3k is £5 UKA members and £6 for unattached runners with each participant or family pledging to raise £20. Challenge Series: Zip Wear
The Foundation of Light are holding its third ‘Zip Wear’ event, giving brave fundraisers the chance to cross the River Wear by zip wire from the roof of the Stadium of Light. Participants will travel for a distance of around 250 metres at up to 25 miles per hour, landing 45 metres below on the opposite bank of the river at Liebherr Cranes. In previous years more than 400 fundraisers took part, raising over £25,000 for the Foundation of Light. Tip Off Lunch
‘Tip Off Lunch’ an exclusive event organised for Foundation of Light’s Corporate Members. Join the SAFC Manager at this annual lunch at the Stadium of Light’s Riverview Brasserie, where guests are able to find out first hand thoughts on the club’s pre-season preparations, the forthcoming Barclays Premier League campaign and a variety of other topics including transfer ‘tips’.

Challenge Series: Great North Run
Date: 15th September
We have a limited number of places available for the world’s biggest and most iconic half marathon on Sunday 15 September 2013. Join 56,000 people running over just over 13 miles in a challenge to be remembered. Charity places are available for a £50 deposit plus a fundraising pledge of £250. All runners will receive a SAFC Foundation of Light running vest, our fundraising pack with handy tips and advice for fundraising plus newsletters and updates to help with training and tips building up to race day. Additionally runners will receive complementary membership to the Foundation Supporters group and a pair of SAFC match tickets. In addition any participants who raise over £500 will receiving a SAFC signed shirt. Demand for these places will be very high so contact us immediately to avoid disappointment. Fashion Strikes 2013
The Foundation of Light’s flagship fundraising event, Fashion Strikes, returns to the Stadium of Light for the sixth year running in November 2013. Sunderland AFC players will take to the catwalk, joined by youngsters who have taken part in Foundation of Light’s community programmes, to raise vital funds for the club’s charity. Regular guests will tell you that this is a key date in the winter party season and if you’ve never been before we guarantee it’s a night to remember.
