Samson and Delilah put questions to the head coach.

1. Before you became Head Coach of the Black Cats who did you play for?
a. I have played for lots of teams in my career. I started playing in the Italian Serie A in my home country; I played for a few teams including Lazio, Juventus, Napoli and Milan.

I then moved to the UK and played for Celtic in Scotland. I played in the Premier League for seven years, playing for Sheffield Wednesday, West Ham United and Charlton Athletic.

The first team I managed was Swindon Town before moving to Sunderland. 

2. What is your favourite thing about being Head Coach at Sunderland?
a. The fans are so passionate! 

3. What has been your proudest moment in football?
a. There has been a few, winning the UEFA cup in 1993 when I played for Juventus. I also won the Serie A in Italy and the UEFA Super Cup when I played for Milan.

As Manager of Swindon Town we were League Two champions and I won the LMA League Two Manager of the Year award in 2012. Plus most recently I am proud of our 3-0 win against Newcastle United. 

4. How many games have you played and how many goals have you scored?
a. I have played in well over 500 matches and scored over 100 goals in my career. 

5. What position did you play?
a. I was a striker.

6. Who did you support growing up?
a. I supported Lazio, an Italian team. 

7. How long have you wanted to be a footballer?
a. I loved football from a young age. 

8. What is your favourite food?
a. I have my own special Tiramisu recipe.

9. What is your favourite item of clothing?
a. My purple argyle vest received a lot of attention!

10. What is your favourite book?
a. I have actually written my own book, my autobiography.
